Tintin: The Art of Hergé Book

€35,00
Author Pierre Sterckx crafted this book from the archives of the Hergé Museum in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium. He presents the evolution of Hergé's work, from the simplicity of his early sketches to the perfection of his clear line style, from color trials to the mastery of his final boards. He also reveals the old and modern painters who inspired Hergé's work. Unveiling an unknown facet of the artist, he introduces us for the first time to some contemporary artists such as Fontana, Poliakoff, Warhol, and Lichtenstein, whom Hergé collected with passion. Originally from Brussels, Pierre Sterckx taught art history for many years. He met Hergé in 1965 and became his friend and advisor in contemporary art. He contributed to numerous publications – Wim Delvoye's "Le Devenir-cochon" (La Lettre volée, 2007), "Les Mondes de Vermeer" (PUF, "Lignes d'art", 2009) – and curated exhibitions – "Au Tibet avec Tintin" (with Benoît Peeters, 1994), "Turbulences I and II" (with David Rosenberg, Paris and Brussels, 2012 and 2013). He also collaborated with Beaux-Arts Magazine. This magnificent album is the last work of Pierre Sterckx, who passed away in May 2015. Format: 23.5 x 28.5 cm
