Asterix, formerly known as Asterix the Gaul, is a French comic book series created on October 29, 1959, by French writer René Goscinny and French illustrator Albert Uderzo in the first issue of the French magazine Pilote. After René Goscinny's death in 1977, Albert Uderzo continued the series alone, then handed it over in 2013 to Jean-Yves Ferri and Didier Conrad.
